Love at First Text

Gillian and James met in that most romantic of places—a dating app. After texting each other sweet nothings and disturbing cat pics, they decided to meet in-person at a restaurant for Trivia Night.

The Proposal

James’ plan (he sorta had one) involved taking Gillian to dinner and getting her to discover the ring in the car. This masterfully thought-out plan was foiled when Gillian informed him that she’d prefer to just relax at home.

Undeterred, James decided to improvise. He brought her some of her favorite things - Nutella and Mexican Cokes - and, as she was putting the sodas in the fridge, hid the ring in his pocket where it bulged in the most spectacularly awkward way. He stammered through a heartfelt proposal, (something about how much he loved her and appreciated having her in his life), got down on one knee and presented her with the ring.

She said, “Oh!”

And then, “Thank You!”

And finally, “Of course, yes!”

She then promptly changed her mind about going out for dinner.

Things Our Intrepid Couple Plan to Do

• A honeymoon eventually; 

• Cooking together; 

• Attempting to win the Doris;

• James trying to get Gillian to watch Samurai Jack, Fantastic Mr. Fox & Lord of The Rings.
